The pop-up restaurant explores every shade of basil green across three dimensions. In the kitchen, chef Simon Auscher has created a twenty-dish menu built entirely around Barilla Pesto, from appetizers to desserts. On the fashion side, stylist Élise Chalmin presents an exclusive capsule collection of clothing and accessories, staying true to a spirit she sums up as "laughing, drinking, eating well, and dressing well." It’s a spot designed to be the perfect break between runway shows.
The program also features culinary masterclasses led by prominent figures from the current food scene. Matteo Pioppi, sous-chef at Restaurant Blanc and Top Chef 2026 contestant, will present his own pesto-based creations alongside Mathis Molinié, the young chef from Restaurant Philippe in Rouen, and content creator duo Charlène and Francesca. Each 90-minute session concludes with a tasting and a take-home recipe card.

Meanwhile, creative DIY workshops explore pesto beyond the plate. Thon Mayo offers an introduction to textile upcycling, Other Hand hosts a contemporary embroidery workshop, Hot Grigri leads a personalized jewelry-making session, and Céramicafé Geneviève hosts a ceramic painting class. Each two-hour workshop includes all materials, and you’ll leave with your own creation in hand.
What this operation succeeds in doing is transforming a culinary ingredient into a cross-disciplinary space for expression, without the marketing aspect overshadowing the actual experience offered to visitors. In a Parisian calendar saturated with brand activations during Fashion Week, the Basil Bar stands out for the coherence of its programming rather than just its aesthetic.
The Basil Bar is open from June 19 to 28 at 34 rue Étienne Marcel, Paris 2nd. Reservations can be made on the Basil Bar Paris website.
